BarcelonaThe actor Leonardo DiCaprio has raised a lot of dust with one of his latest business projects: a new luxury hotel in the coastal town of Herzliya, north of Tel-Aviv (Israel), eighty kilometers from Loop, where the population is starving after a total siege by the Israeli army and the destruction of all food sources by bombing. The actor, who often makes a flag of his environmental activism, will participate in the project with a 10% stake. According to the Israeli business daily Globes, the Tel Aviv District Planning and Construction Committee has approved the construction of the new tourist complex, which will occupy an area of 51,000 square meters. Furthermore, The Jerusalem Post reports that the eco-certified complex, located in the Herzliya Marina Hotel, will have 14 floors and 365 rooms.

DiCaprio, who was designated a Messenger of Peace for Climate Change in 2014, will participate in the project with the Hagag group and brothers Ahikam and Lior Cohen. The hotel, initially announced in March 2018, planned for the construction of 180 suites spread across two six-story buildings. However, despite the massacre in Gaza, the project has been significantly expanded: it will include a convention center, a signature restaurant, and commercial spaces, designed by Rani Zeese Architects.

The actor's participation has drawn much criticism, because while he appears to have been concerned about respecting environmental criteria, he has not questioned the fact that the hotel, with exclusive access for yachts, is being built in a country accused of genocide before the International Criminal Tribunal for the Ha. One of the most vocal critics has been American activist Shaun King. "The actor is benefiting from apartheid in the midst of a genocide," he asserted on social media.

On the other hand, the Palestinian media Quds News Network has directly accused the actor of being an "accomplice."
