Actor William Levy arrested for rioting and trespassing

BarcelonaCuban actor and producer William Levy, best known for starring in the soap opera Coffee with the aroma of a woman, was arrested on Monday in Florida for disturbing the peace while intoxicated and trespassing, according to the Efe news agency. Levy, 44, was jailed in a center in Fort Lauderdale, in southern Florida, and has since been released.

The incident occurred on Monday night at an Argentine restaurant in Weston, where Levy was having dinner with friends. According to witnesses cited by People in SpanishThe actor bought alcoholic drinks to about 100 people at the restaurant. When it was time to pay, the actor confronted the manager, believing the price to be too high. The actor pushed a third person who was trying to make peace and ended up being thrown out of the establishment. Once outside, he tried to re-enter the establishment to retrieve his cell phone, and that's when restaurant managers called the police.

Upon leaving jail, Levy denied physically assaulting a restaurant employee. "I tried to remain calm the whole time. In the end, I was the one who decided to leave," the actor said.

Domestic conflicts with his ex-partner

This isn't the first time Levy has had a run-in with the police. The actor was involved in a series of domestic disputes with his ex-partner, actress Elizabeth Gutiérrez, and security forces responded to the home they shared at least four times. In April 2024, Gutiérrez also reported the actor for pushing his daughter during an argument.

William Gutiérrez Levy was born in the Cuban city of Cojimar and arrived in the United States at age 16. He is known for his acting career in soap operas such as Beware of the angel, Sortilege and The storm, all recorded in Mexico, but it was with the series Coffee with the aroma of a woman (Netflix) with which gained more popularity.
