Without sardana there is no Hollywood

In 1919, the modern, cool, cool, those at the top must look down: "So insatiable was my sardana passion that on Sundays I would attend sardana dances morning, noon, and night. One day at the Aplec de la Sardana, counting the morning tandas in Vil·la Joana, the afternoon in the bala, the afternoon in the Planes, and not missing a single one in the evening, to the tune of a hundred sardanas."

Josep Carner-Ribalta arrives in Barcelona and moves his feet like wild, spasmodic lobsters. Do you believe in destiny? In the transmigration of the souls of jet-propelled snails? In life in chalets on Venus de Dalt? Yes. The sardana has premiered in Balaguer. The Hollywood Fairies. By Catalan composer Marc Timón, who works in Hollywood. Dedicated to the man who wanted to bring Hollywood to Catalonia: Josep Carner-Ribalta (Balaguer, 1898 - Simi Valley, 1988). Without sardana, there is no Hollywood. There is no dream.

Luz Balaguer, 1985. Journey to the city of birth and heart. An actor appears on the scene between legend and oblivion. Carner is black and white cinema. The spotlights come on in a flashback. He speaks with a voice of centuries: "We cannot understand each other with Spain; independence is the only solution. To be independent, Catalonia needs to want it and for the Catalans to form a strong movement, with a broad social base and a clear vision, giving priority to independence above ideological, political, and social differences." Amen.

Carner-Ribalta lives in the Eternal Valley Cemetery, in California. At the foot of the Camino Real. Where more than three centuries ago, a compatriot of his, the also walnut-born Gaspar de Portolà, disembarked and became the first governor of California... And, of course, discoverer of Los Angeles, San Francisco... Illuminating the films, the stories of the future: Hollywood, Silicon Valley, Napa Valley...
