The women of the burqa

The PSC of Lleida, with Junts, has decreed a ban on the burqa on the city's streets, which is this kind of mummification of adult women. In the photo illustrating the news from ARA we see one of these women, all in black, from top to bottom, like a chrysalis, with a boy and a girl, whose eyes are pixelated to preserve their identity. You cannot help but think that a normal life awaits the boy. For the girl, soon, the entire and eternal pixelation awaits, which will not preserve her identity, but will silence and hide her. We read that they will be fined if they wear them in the street, which in practice will mean they go out less or not at all, of course. ERC, the PSC itself, and the PP are in favor of the ban in the Congress of Deputies, but against the fine and in favor of having them participate in social activities.

I understand that one cannot prohibit covering one's hair for religious reasons, as some women do, among them, a member of Parliament, because then we would also have to prohibit the uniform of Sister Lucía Caram and the wigs of Jewish women, who shave their hair (I imagine) for the same reason that the others cover theirs. Due to a medieval and analog conception of beauty and sexual arousal. But going completely covered in the street, not using vital organs such as the eyes, mouth, or ears (the nose, depending on the case, they are allowed to show) just as nature has conceived them reminds me of a dog's muzzle or a mule's blinders. A domesticity that I find extremely violent.

A burqa is telling everyone, the children of the woman who wears it, the husband, the police guarding the street, the shopkeepers... "this woman is a possession." A possession, specifically, of the one walking in front of her, feeling cool, in flip-flops.

Having said that, having them pay a fine is a great idea, because surely they have a payroll and all sorts of assets in their name. Doing community service is also fine. What could it be? Purple point informant? Summer camp counselor? Rural agent? Librarian?
