Sánchez and the judgments of history
Pedro Sánchez addressed Junts, Vox, and the PP with a "history will judge you sooner than you think." They were solemn words following a no less dramatic tweet in which he wrote: "Your vote will portray you before entire generations." It is the grandiloquence to cloak oneself in reasons and dignity, before the electoral battle. Everyone understands the cause, and it has a person's name: Maricarmen. The tempo is perfect: even the Pope has spoken about it. And the cut is clean: right and left.
It is true that with the parliamentary defeat of the decrees, many people are angry and will live in distress, and that is no small thing. But history is a word of great weight and, if we are to speak in historical terms, then the failure is collective, of the right and of the left, especially those that have governed for more years and with more power.
Because the reality is that housing prices in Spain are growing three times faster than wages, and this year the increase in housing prices in Spain is triple the European Union average. Housing prices in Catalonia and Spain have been growing every quarter for eleven consecutive years. With such indicators, does anyone believe it was necessary to rush so much to vote for the decrees in Congress as if they were the solution to all the problems of an economic system that is increasingly excluding more people?
We have spectacularly increased the population with little or no foresight as to where we could all live together. We have all seen advertisements saying “We buy entire properties, the condition does not matter and even if there are tenants”. History will judge everyone, for what they did and for what they did not do, being able to do it or having promised that they would do it. On the right and on the left.
