Pixo has to speak Catalan

Ferran Vital, in our newspaper, offered us an automotive-linguistic news item. The Nissan brand, from Japan, has christened its new electric car as the Nissan Pixo. He himself, in the news, reminded us of all the car names that, in the languages available to us, are either scatological or sexual unintentionally. He mentioned the "Nissan Moco, Mazda Laputa, Opel Cascada, Opel Manta, Ford Corrida or Hyundai Kona". I confess that the latter, the Kona, I do not understand. And I add to the list, of course, the legendary Mitsubishi Pajero, which because of the word was renamed, in Spanish-speaking areas, as Montero. If we look at it from the perspective of Catalan, we must also include the Kia Picantó.

Because the fact that the word, the game, works only in our language I believe adds a plus (a “plas”, as they pronounce it now on TV) of fun. Let's imagine that someone (someone in on the joke) gets a Pixo with a license plate that has the letters MHI. What satisfaction, on the fines, to read “MHI Pixo”. We all used to say, for a laugh, “Pans i company” and we complained, also for a laugh, about the yogurt that hurt, because it was called “Dany”. Therefore, and taking this into account, it is inadmissible, it is very uncommercial, that the car has an assistant in many languages among which Catalan is not included. They have to fix this, they have to fix it quickly. Because when it is fixed, the Catalan people, so given to scatology, will buy the car just to be able to go to the cinema to watch Toy Story and say: “I'll take the Pixo and go see Pixar”.
