Elon Musk in a file image.

We don't know if Elon Musk is from Almatret, Sils or Xerta. What is clear is that if Parliament is giving the universal businessman a hard time (for "interference" in European democracies) it is because he is an F5, arefresh: the update of what it means to be Catalan today.

The richest man on the planet was born in South Africa. Later he became a Canadian citizen. Then he became an American citizen. Now he seems to be Catalan. The Musk debate in the Parliament responds to one of the conflicts we have as a people, a flock or a group of crickets. For the first time, in the hemicycle, that phrase that has been scientifically proven to be untrue is rejected: everyone who lives and works in Catalonia is Catalan.

Musk does not need to be Catalan as a rocket for social ascension, but he has seen that Catalonia is the future and that it will govern the planet, since it is the land of simulation (pretending to have what you do not have), whoever passes the year pushes, now yes, now no... We are an existential steak back and forth: charred but not dead. And this is the technology of the miracle. He sees it every day with his own eyes.

Musk, the new Catalan, has his physical residence in Boca Chica (Texas), facing the Gulf of Mexico. There he sees Cuba. And he sees the future in the past. This is where the Catalan-born Néstor Almendros Cuyàs went to talk. The War evicted his family and country in one of the most astronomical acts of illegality against the greatest right to physical and spiritual housing that is remembered, and still unrepaired. Almendros is the first Catalan with an Oscar, but he does not have any street or square in his country (Comanegra has just published his biography: The return of Nestor Almendros). In fact, most Catalans don't even know it exists: absolute proof that it is Catalan beef one thousand percent. Almendros is he universal director of photography. There is no light in the films from the sixties to the nineties without him. But he also puts the spotlight on what it means to be Catalan: "I am Spanish again. Which, for a Catalan, is as false as the other (being Cuban)", Almendros told his friend Guillermo Cabrera Infante. The paper doesn't count anything, or everything. Because as he hammered home: "My Rosebud is the Catalan language." The homeland, the nationality, the passport: the lost childhood. The broken toy. The occupation, the replacement, the denial. -Member. A few days after opening that small space, a citizen tells him: "You will be sitting so close to each other that with a little good will you could slap each other." There are those who would not hug him. Empathetic, little... He who taught Catalan to generations of children. He who fought against the injustices of the Catalan left and right. The Spanish ones don't count because he was Catalan. He only obeyed Parliament. Also in exile. When the Gestapo arrests him. When he returns in 1942. And he opens the door and finds a lady: "Oh, we've been here for a while now, they told us this apartment was free and we like it a lot."This is what it means to be Catalan. When everything is screwed up for you. Perhaps these deputies who neither defend nor look at Catalonia will learn this. They only look at the X screen (Twitter). Obsessed with Elon Musk. Just for that reason they tell us what it means to be Catalan... or not.
