BarcelonaIt began as a critique of capitalism and the world of work and has evolved into a puzzle full of mysteries that is not too far from Lost. The second season of Severance (Separation) has been one of the protagonists of the serial conversation at the beginning of 2025 and this Friday AppleTV+ will publish the last episode, which should provide answers to many of the questions that viewers have been asking themselves since the beginning of the series. The series follows the lives of a series of workers who have accepted that their minds are surgically divided in two, the work world and the personal world. When they are in the Lumon offices, they remember nothing of the outside world, and when they are in their daily lives, they remember nothing of work.

As it happened in Lost, Severance (Separation)) is full of elements that make no concrete sense to the viewer. In this second season, for example, two of the protagonists, Mark (Adam Scott) and Helly (Britt Lower) go through the endless corridors of Lumon until they reach a room full of green hills and a herd of goats that are fed by a rather disturbing staff (among these workers is the actress Gweenline Chris Game of Thunder). The innocent white goats inevitably make one think of the polar bear of Lost. What hidden meaning do these beasts hold? It also makes no sense that a girl no older than fifteen is one of the company's bosses.

Although three years have passed between the first and second seasons of the series, interest in the fiction has not waned, but rather the opposite: numerous mems made with scenes from the fiction can be found on social media; on Reddit there are many discussion threads about it and its hidden meanings; and TikTok videos showing real-life locations have multiplied.. There are also those who have chosen to dress up as the characters for Carnival or those who give advice through TikTok on how to dress like the Lumon workers.

According to AppleTV+, the fiction, which has Ben Stiller among its directors and producers, is currently the most watched series on the platform, above Ted Lasso, which until now was the streaming service's most successful and popular project. The big difference between the two productions is that Jason Sudeikis' series is much more conventional and appeals to a much broader audience than the work-life balance dystopia starring Adam Scott. Beyond the claims and data shared by the platform, which can be questioned because they are just a little bit new, the independent consulting firm Nielsen, which compiles audience and viewing data in the United States, has also detected a growth in the popularity of the science fiction series. On March 13, the consulting firm announced that Severance had been the fifth most-watched series on all platforms for five consecutive weeks, reaching its peak viewing minutes of 681 million (in streaming, audience data is given in minutes watched, not viewers). Furthermore, Nielsen noted that 60% of viewings were for the second season, which would indicate that many people are watching the first season or are just now discovering the series.

When assessing the impact of the eccentric SeveranceIt's important to note that Apple TV+'s market share is much smaller than that of other platforms. Specifically, to improve its reach, the streaming service has reached agreements in recent months with other services such as Amazon Prime Video and, in Spain, Movistar+. These agreements allow customers of these platforms to access Apple TV+ productions, provided they pay an additional subscription.

How long is the last episode of 'Severance'?

The season finale of the series will be available worldwide this Friday, March 21, on AppleTV+. The episode is titled Cold Harbor, a concept that has appeared periodically in the series and seems to be related to Mark's work. The episode will last an hour and a quarter, according to the platform.
