TarragonaThe forecasts are coming true and May is bidding farewell with a new set of nine-story towers. The Castellers de Sants unload the first 3d9f of the season at the Pla de la Seu festival in Barcelona and become the fifth group to reach this category this 2026. The borinots complete their best performance of the course with the tower of 8 with folre and the 4d8, in a day that also leaves notable achievements for the Colla Vella dels Xiquets de Valls, the Colla Jove Xiquets de Tarragona and the Colla Castellera de Sant Pere i Sant Pau.

The borinots unload the first 3d9f of the year

The Castellers de Sants conclude a season start with clear progression by completing the first 3d9f of the year. This comes after a solid 2d8f and before a 4d8 that completes the best performance of the season for the Barcelona team. The tower also has a special symbolic weight: it is the first nine-level tower the group has completed during the month of May since 2016 and, at the same time, this becomes the first nine-level tower ever completed in Pla de la Seu square. At the same event, the Castellers de Sant Cugat continue to gain experience with the 4d8, the 7-level tower, and the 3d7, after dismantling a first attempt at a 4d8 and an attempt at a 3d8. Finally, the Castellers de Sarrià, for their part, complete the 5d7, the 4d7a, and the 4d7.

La Vella once again joins the two basic nine-level towers

The Castellera Museum of Valls festival confirms the great moment of the rosats. La Colla Vella unloads the 4d9f and the 3d9f, in addition to the 4d8a, the 5d8 and the pd7f. Manel Urbano's team once again exhibits both basic nine-story castles in the same performance, a demonstration of solidity that strengthens Valls' candidacy to consider larger objectives in the coming weeks. Alongside them, the Nens del Vendrell complete a good performance with the 3d7, the 4d8 and the 4d7a.

Jove and Sant Pere i Sant Pau get the alèta on the pd7f

The Tarragona Local gathering offers another of the weekend's big headlines. The Colla Jove Xiquets de Tarragona unloads the 2d8f, the second 3d9f of the season, the 4d8a and premieres the pd7f this season. In this way, the lilacs continue to expand their records and consolidate structures for a demanding June. Alongside them and also at home, the Colla Castellera de Sant Pere i Sant Pau also emerges strengthened. The Tarragona team completes the 3d8, the tower of 7 and the 4d8 and loads a valuable pd7f, a construction they had not crowned since the 2022 Castells Competition and which broke just as the enxaneta was doing the exit mochila.

The greens unload the 3d9f in Berga

At the Quatre Fuets festival in Berga, the Castellers de Vilafranca continue to show consistency with the structures that will serve as the basis for future attempts at the extra range. The greens complete the 2d8f, the 3d9f, the 4d8a, and the pd7f. The Moixiganguers d'Igualada also have a notable performance with the 2d8f, the 3d8, and the 4d8. Those with the purple shirts end the day with a pd6 that remains as a charged attempt. Finally, the Castellers de Berga, hosts of the event, resolve their performance with the 5d7, the 7d7, and the 4d7a.

La Joves is still awaiting the debut of the castle of nine

The Ramon Barrufet Memorial does not, in the end, see the premiere of the nine-level castle by the Colla Joves Xiquets de Valls. Despite this, those from Carrer d'en Gassó complete a solid performance with the 3d8, the 4d8a, the 2d8f, and the pd6. Alongside them, the Nois de la Torre unload the 3d6a, the 4d6a, and the 3d7 after an initial dismantled attempt. The Colla Castellera de Madrid completes the 3d6a, the 4d6, and the 3d6.

Other festivals to highlight

Beyond the main stages, the weekend also leaves other notable results. Els Tirallongues de Manresa unload the first 4d8 of the season and take an important step in their progression. Els Xiquets de Tarragona travel to the Basque Country and complete an performance based on seven-story towers there, while Els Xiquets del Serrallo, on the other hand, try the 7-story tower but opt to dismantle it before crowning it.

With June about to begin, the casteller scene enters a new phase: that of transforming the good feelings of this start of the season into the first major objectives of the year.
