BarcelonaNo later than 12 October. The verdict in the case of the jailed Catalan leaders will be handed down during the first two weeks of October, according to Javier Zaragoza, one of the four prosecutors in the trial recently held in Madrid’s Supreme Court. During a lecture in Buenos Aires on Tuesday, Zaragoza stated that “as far as I know, the ruling will be announced within the first ten days, close to the October 12”. He then emphasised that “the verdict will be published in early October”.

As reported by Radio Continental and Cadena Ser, in his address the prosecutor criticised Germany’s decision not to hand over Carles Puigdemont, who is wanted in Spain for a crime of rebellion. According to Zaragoza, “the Schleswig-Holstein court made an unforgivable mistake and violated the European rules that regulate arrest warrants”.
