Five key moments from Trump's speech to Congress
The Trump show has left moments designed only for the show, such as the appointment of a child as an American secret agent
BarcelonaHe Donald Trump's speech to Congress on Tuesday It has become a Trumpist show full of moments designed only to give spectacle, also making clear the enormous political polarization, which has opened a chasm between Republicans and Democrats. It was not the traditional State of the Union address but an Address to the Nation that the presidents of the United States usually make in front of the two chambers of Congress at the very beginning of their mandate to explain their vision of the future. Trump's has been clear in the first 43 days of his mandate, which in his opinion "are only the beginning" of the change. "Russia is ready for peace"
The speech took place the day after Trump himself announced the withdrawal of military aid to Ukraine, something that forced Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to make a move. In a statement, Zelensky was open to a partial truce that would lead to peace negotiations "under the strong leadership" of Trump, extended his hand and showed his willingness to sign the agreement to give the United States access to Ukraine's rare earths. Shortly afterwards, in his speech, Trump "thanked" him for the letter, but did not back down from the withdrawal of military aid, and limited himself to saying that he knows that "Russia is ready for peace."

"Thanks, Elon"
Another highlight of the speech was when Trump turned to billionaire and close ally Elon Musk, who was in the audience, and praised him for his spending cuts that saw thousands of government workers laid off. Musk was wearing a suit and tie this time. After criticizing Zelensky for not wearing a suit and tie during Friday's meeting at the White House, Musk also decided to leave at home his usual short-sleeved T-shirt and hat that he has worn until now in his public encounters with Trump.

Expulsion of a Democratic congressman
One of the most tense moments of the session was the ejection from the chamber of Democratic Congressman Al Green. From his seat, the man had been calling out to Trump: “You have no mandate to cut Medicaid.” House Speaker Mike Johnson called him out and asked him to sit down, but Green maintained his protest, and Johnson had congressional staff escort him out of the chamber.
