The American actress has visited Catalonia for a documentary series on gastronomy.
BarcelonaActress Eva Longoria is passionate about gastronomy and has left a mark on her visit to Catalonia to film the documentary series Searching for Spain, premiered on CNN. The production is a gastronomic journey through Spain, a journey that has allowed the actress to discover things like vermouth and látigo, of which she has declared herself a fan. In a preview of the series, the actress tries vermouth thanks to Barcelona-based American journalist Matt Goulding, who explains what the drink consists of and recommends pairing it with Catalan cured meats, like látigo, and cockles. "I can't stop eating this," Longoria exclaims in a video shared on social media.
The episode dedicated to Catalan gastronomy kicks off the documentary series. In addition to discovering vermouth, Longoria meets with chefs such as Ferran Adrià, Fina Puigdevall, and Martina Puigvert Puigdevall. Vermouth is featured, as are La Pedrera and the Sagrada Família, the Casa Leopoldo restaurant, and the superblock on Parlament Street.
This isn't Longoria's first visit to Catalonia. In fact, the star of Desperate Housewives The series premiered in June 2024 Land of women (AppleTV+), filmed in Catalonia. The series, an adaptation of the book of the same name by Sandra Barneda, follows the adventures of an American woman who, due to legal issues, seeks refuge in the Catalan town where her mother, played by Carmen Maura, was born.
Although Catalan isn't widely spoken in the series, during filming the actress learned about the Catalan reality and spoke about it on social media. In a video she uploaded to Instagram, she could be seen with a friend at the Santallúcia restaurant on Almadrava beach in Roses, in the Alt Empordà region. In the video, the actress, who was showing the views from the restaurant, asked her friend: "Where are we, Christy?" Her companion replied: "In Santa Lucía, Spain." Longoria quickly corrected her friend and pointed out that they were in Catalonia. "You're right, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. We're definitely in Catalonia."
