Comments, a space to think together: this is how conversation works in the ARA newspaper

Subscribers are the ones who engage in dialogue in the comments section and at the same time they are the ones who moderate it.

ARA is not just a news outlet, but also a community of readers and subscribers who share concerns, reflections, and ways of understanding the world. The comments section of articles is where this conversation comes to life, always with a clear objective: to foster open, free, constructive, and respectful debate.

We are convinced that the exchange of ideas between the editorial team and readers enriches journalism and helps us better understand the reality that surrounds us.

Who can participate and how can the comments be read?

Anyone with an ARA account can read the comments on news articles, whether or not they have a subscription. However, only those with a Full subscription can comment on the articles. This is because we are committed to quality debate, based on respect and acceptance of differing viewpoints.

To read the comments, click on the speech bubble icon and the total number of comments, located below the author's name at the top of the article. You can also access them via the blue "Comment" button at the bottom of the article.

Comment: express opinions with respect and commitment

Full subscriptions can write comments directly from the news reading area.

You can share your opinion with a new comment or join the conversation by replying to another subscriber's message. Comments should always be based on the rules of participationThese are the framework that ensures a healthy and enriching debate. Insults, offensive language, false content, or covert advertising are not allowed. The tone must be respectful, polite, and constructive: a comment is an opportunity to make people think, not to cause harm.

A moderated and shared space: joint responsibility

Moderating comments on ARA is a shared responsibility between the editorial staff and the newspaper's subscribers. If a subscriber finds a comment that violates the rules, they can report it by clicking the flag icon and then the "Report" button. When a comment receives three reports, it is automatically hidden and reviewed by the moderation team.

Subscribers can also "like" other comments if they find them valuable, insightful, or offer interesting insights. It's a simple way to recognize the most valued and high-quality contributions.

If you want to stop seeing a user's comments, you can mute them.

Through interviews and user testing, we gathered your opinions and preferences, and from this knowledge, we drew conclusions that have led us to make small adjustments that will make the experience more satisfying.
