TarragonaTarragona is already living the countdown to the Sant Magí festival. The city's four groups are facing the final days of preparation with rehearsals and tests that will finalize the programs they will bring to Plaça de les Cols on Wednesday, August 19. The event, starting at noon, will once again bring together Jove, Xiquets, Sant Pere i Sant Pau, and Serrallo in a festival with very different objectives but with a common denominator: reaching the highest possible level in one of the most important events of the Tarragona summer.

The Colla Jove Xiquets de Tarragona is the one arriving with the most defined proposal of maximums. The lilacs have the 2d9fm as their main card to open their performance, a castle they have already completed this year and which once again positions itself as one of the group's flagship constructions. The next major objective would be the 5d9f. Recent rehearsals have placed sixths and have come out with good sensations. It is a castle that, due to its demand and difficulty, would mark an important leap within the Sant Magí program, as those from Cós del Bou have not unloaded it since 2023. To complete the festival, the intention includes one of the two basic 9-castles, accompanied by the pillar of 6.

The Xiquets de Tarragona unloaded the 4d9f in Vila-seca

The Xiquets de Tarragona also want to take a step forward during Sant Magí. The 'matalassers' program has the 7d8 as one of its main references. It is one of the flagship castells of the season for Roger Budesca's team and appears as one of the most guaranteed constructions for the Les Cols event. The next objective would be the 4d9f, a structure that the Xiquets already have in their repertoire and want to consolidate. The third round will be more open: the 'matalassers' could opt for the 3d9f. It is a construction they have not yet performed this season and, therefore, would represent a debut at a particularly important moment of the course. Thus, the 2d8f and the 5d8 are ruled out of the program. The 'matalassers' still have a special rehearsal session before Sant Magí, scheduled for Monday, August 17, as part of the preparations for the event.

Sant Pere i Sant Pau unloaded the 4d8a for the first time in Els Pallaresos

For Sant Pere and Sant Pau, the goal is to maintain the progression that the group has been making this season. David Lobo's team arrives after having completed the 4d8a this Saturday at Cós del Bou, a construction that confirms the good moment of the cooperativist neighborhood and that can serve as a starting point to face new challenges at Les Cols. The next step could come with the 5d8, a castle that the group has not yet achieved this season, or with the 2d8f. There will also be anticipation with the pillars, with the pillar of 6 and the pd7f as possible options.

The 3d8 of the Xiquets del Serrallo unloaded by the Mare de Déu del Carme

And in El Serrallo, the objective is especially ambitious: to complete the classic of 8 for the first time in its history. Josep Maria Gaya's team wants to bring together the 2d7, the 3d8, and the 4d8 in a single performance, a combination that would certify a new ceiling for the sailor group. This season's records fuel the ambition of the Serrallo members. The 3d8 is already part of their repertoire, and the 2d7 and 4d8 are also structures they have been consolidating. Now the challenge is to gather all the forces and manage to complete the three constructions in a single day. In any case, the event will be an opportunity to make history and complete a combination that they have not yet achieved in their career.

With the four programs still pending final rehearsals, Cols prepares for a particularly interesting day.
