Thirty subscribers of the ARA Premium Club are undertaking a crossing of Cape Creus aboard the 'Sant Isidre' fishing boat

"I wouldn't trade this sailboat for any dinghy." Says Segimon Molist, from Vic, who is grateful to have been able to enjoy a swim at ses Ielles. It's not the first time he's sailed around Cap de Creus from the sea, but "it's a place that always surprises you," he adds. "I had never done this route before and I recommend it," says Jesús Conte, a journalist. "I loved it, it was a fantastic experience," shares Josep Maria Canyelles, a businessman from Vilanova i la Geltrú, happy to have been able to "get to know from the sea an increasingly protected area with restricted access".

These are some of the many comments made by ARA Premium subscribers on board the yacht Sant Isidre from the bay of Cadaqués to the easternmost point of Cap de Creus. This is an activity that was already carried out a few months ago for the Premium Club and has been repeated this year, as it was very well received.

The Sant Isidre is an elegant sailboat that was once a warship, used for coastguard services and for the smuggling of watches, and had served Greenpeace, among other activities. Now converted into a leisure vessel, one of its uses has been to showcase the exceptional landscape of Cap de Creus from the sea and to discover coves inaccessible by land, half-hidden caves like s'Infern, old quarries, and the large rocks – unusually flat on this rugged coast – known as ses Estenedors because they were formerly used by fishermen to spread and repair their nets.

The boat drops anchor in the early afternoon in the bay of Cadaqués, where the captain, Lluís Romero, explains the history of the sailboat Sant Isidre. The weather has gifted a sunny day and a calm sea. After skirting es Cucurucú, the islet that juts out in the middle of the bay of Cadaqués as if it were a black iceberg and which has been painted by numerous artists, the vessel sets course towards Cap de Creus. It enters Portlligat, where Salvador Dalí's house is located, and continues to Cala Jugadora, at the foot of the Cap de Creus lighthouse. This cove was highly sought after by fishermen due to the abundance of blue fish found there.
