BBVA celebrates a decade in Girona, Temps de Flors
The organization will once again be present at a new edition of the event, which promotes the cultural, social, and economic dynamism of the Girona capital.

Starting May 10, BBVA will once again be present at a new edition of Girona's Temps de Flors (Flower Time). This year, the bank has been actively participating for ten years in an event that boosts the cultural, social, and economic dynamism of the Girona capital. Every year, Girona celebrates the arrival of May with flowers. Temps de Flors transforms the city into a showcase of floral art and citizen participation for a few days, with historic spaces open to the public, transformed into authentic floral settings.
Since 2015, BBVA has participated in the event, decorating some of the most emblematic spots along the official route, such as the Arab Baths, the cloister and basements of the cathedral, and the cloister of Sant Pere de Galligants. A collaboration that reflects the bank's commitment to the region and its people, not only through financial support for families and businesses, but also through its involvement in deeply rooted local initiatives that citizens experience as part of their identity.
"Temps de Flors is an activity we look forward to and in which we are actively involved. It demonstrates our desire to be close, to collaborate with local organizations, and to be present in the life of Girona," notes David Meavilla, BBVA's area manager in Girona.
Thus, over the ten years that the organization has participated in Girona, Temps de Flors, hundreds of employees have collaborated in each edition in the creation of floral displays, following the designers' instructions and also participating in the selection of the composition's name. They have done so in their free time, voluntarily, in keeping with the spirit of the event: a collective initiative, built through the participation of citizens and the entire community. A phenomenon that transcends borders and demonstrates that the local can become global without sacrificing its essence.
BBVA's collaboration on the exhibition has been strengthened thanks to its collaboration with local institutions and entities, such as the City Council and the University of Girona. This contribution has transformed the projects into experiences that go beyond the artistic and contribute value to the economic, cultural, and social development of the region.
After a decade of collaboration with Temps de Flors, BBVA continues to support initiatives that are part of Girona's business, cultural, and social life. This support, according to Meavilla, "arises from a commitment to the community and all the people of Girona."
Highlights include the bank's more than ten-year collaboration with the Roca brothers, with whom it has developed projects with international reach and strong local roots, such as the Girona restaurant's tour of the Americas, Asia, Europe, and various Spanish regions, and the scholarship program associated with this tour for young gas talents, which has already recognized eight Catalan producers in five editions.
Additionally, the bank collaborates in the business sphere with AENTEG (Girona Association of New Technology Companies) to promote the E-TECH Awards, which recognize talent and digital transformation in the region.
Designs that invite reflection
In recent years, the projects presented by BBVA in Girona, Temps de Flors, have sought to raise awareness about sustainability. Proposals such as Contrasts of the future (2022), A sea of reality (2023) and The cry of the glaciers (2024) have addressed topics such as environmental impact and how to mitigate it, the growing presence of plastic in the oceans and the melting of glaciers.
This purpose has been maintained from the installations conceived by the floral artist Jordi Albà to the most recent ones, the result of the work of students on the Master's Degree in Design and Production of Spaces at the UPC School-CCCB. In 2025, the proposal with the title Resilient nature, which can be visited in the cathedral's basement from May 10th, will once again invite reflection on the environmental impact.
