BarcelonaBarça are closing in on the Liga title after winning the Clásico at Montjuïc on Sunday and extending their lead over Real Madrid to seven points. Espanyol, Villarreal, and Athletic Bilbao are the three remaining rivals for the Catalans before the end of the season. With the goal average in favor of whites, Hansi Flick's They only need two more points to lift the trophy and seal the double.

The Blaugranas could become champions on Thursday if they win the derby against Espanyol (9:30 p.m. CET). This would allow them to repeat the feat achieved two seasons ago, when Barça, under Xavi Hernández, already won La Liga at the RCDE Stadium. Another alternative, unrelated to Barça's upcoming results, is for Madrid to drop points along the way. The Blaugranas could be La Liga champions before the derby, provided Madrid don't beat Mallorca this Wednesday. Specifically, the Mallorcans are in the thick of the fight to compete in European competition next season. As for the Whites, they can't drop points in any of their three remaining matches. Carlo Ancelotti will be in charge of his penultimate game in charge of Real Madrid. He will have many players missing for another week.

If Real Madrid fail to take all three points from Cornellà-El Prat and Mallorca win, Hansi Flick's side will be enough to be crowned champions if they draw two of their three remaining matches. Espanyol, on the other hand, need five points to secure their place in the league. Villarreal and Athletic Bilbao are in contention to share the Champions League places and secure their place.

Lifting the La Liga title in the final match at Montjuïc

The Blaugrana would only lift the league title at Montjuïc, in front of their fans against Villarreal on Sunday the 18th, if Real Madrid beat both Mallorca and Sevilla, and Barça picked up two or more points between Matchdays 36 and 37. After winning the Clásico (4-3) and considering all possible scenarios, it's only a matter of time before Barça wins. Anything else would be an unexpected setback.
