Antoni Bassas' analysis: 'The terrorist's unusual appearance in Congress'

Mohamed Houli's words will not go any further. Politically, Junts has managed to get them to be spoken in Congress. The family of the child from Rubí who died on the Rambla is considering filing a complaint against the former director of the CNI. But the courts have passed sentence and the State has covered up the matter. End of chapter

What happened yesterday in Congress was unusual: a man convicted for the attacks in Barcelona and Cambrils on August 17 accused the CNI to know the intentions of the imam of Ripoll.

It was all unusual: that someone who is sentenced to 43 years in prison for a terrorist crime was to testify personally before Congress; that the prison surveillance judge, instead of having him testify by videoconference, authorized him to travel from the Córdoba prison to Madrid, and, finally, the result of the session was unusual, which was summarized by the PP deputy, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo: "They took a terrorist to terror. That is why the PP deputies left the room, and those from the PSOE, Sumar and Vox did not ask him any questions. Only Junts, Esquerra and Bildu asked.

There were two key questions. One: why are you saying it now? Because he was already convicted and could not face reprisals. Do you have proof? No, none, he says that another terrorist told him that, but he wants the State to investigate what the CNI knew and what it didn't. According to Mohamed Houli, the CNI was aware of the imam's intentions and allowed him to go to Ripoll and radicalize them.

"The CNI knew of the imam's intentions and they allowed the imam to get our heads around it. I say this now and I didn't say it before for fear of reprisals or that it could harm me. But I am already condemned and I have nothing to lose. I am an imam and this happened."

The statement ended, the witness was taken back to the police van to return to prison and the event will be used by the PP and Vox to point out the price that Sánchez must pay to Junts to be able to govern, but the case will not be reopened. The only one who insisted on doing so was President Puigdemont, with a message on the X network: "He couldn't say it more clearly."

With the attacks of August 17, it happened that the one who admitted that the State could have played at giving a scare in Catalonia and that then it got out of hand was Commissioner Villarejo, who is a policeman of zero reputation and who says this it is to compromise those who have let him down, not for love of the truth. But it also happens that the imam of Ripoll was a confidant of the Spanish secret services and that on August 17, 17, there was a month and a half left for the referendum of October 1, which the State wanted to prevent at all costs. The political drama of those dates opens its doors to all speculations, even to what they call "conspiracy theory" to make those who believe that the State is capable of organizing an attack to defend itself appear crazy or irresponsible. And the problem is that Spain knows it, and in a democracy.

As I was saying, Mohamed Houli's words will not go any further. Politically, Junts has managed to get them to be spoken in Congress.

The family of the child from Rubí who died on the Rambla is considering filing a complaint against the former director of the CNI. But the courts have passed sentence and theThe state has thrown dirt above. End of chapter.
