Antoni Bassas' analysis: Just what the commuter trains need: politicking and the unsupportive strike by train drivers.

Today, in the Parliament, there was a government oversight session. Right at the start, Junts asked to alter the agenda and hold a debate about Cercanías.

ERC, Comuns, and CUP have said no, that to provide explanations, it's better to hold a dedicated plenary session in a few days. And these three groups, naturally joined by the PSC, have postponed it for March 25th. In two weeks, a full-scale session. The PSC representative said it wasn't a good idea to dedicate today to making a "quick and easy" headline.

This movement has to do with what the Government did yesterday, when the minister Paneque revolted against Juntos because he "ignored" the Cercanías when he was in power.

The management of commuter trains is a political issue, but the government and opposition should find the right tone: the people who have to walk on the tracks, the woman who falls onto the track because she can't be seen, the crowd who are treated like a package every morning, please ask for solutions, not partisanship and politics.

Politicking like that of Minister Puente, who finally, yesterday, deigned to apologize, but then became wonderful, because the goat goes to the mountain:

"First of all, I want to apologize to the users. I hope that a situation like the one we experienced this week, with a host of incidents, doesn't happen again. Second, I want us to rationally analyze the causes, because I'm tired of feeling that it's due to a lack of investment. We can't even say it. I think things will get back on track."

Puente says he's tired of feeling that the problems of the Cercanías system are due to a lack of investment. For saying this, he'd better keep quiet. What do you mean you're tired? Your tiredness, which doesn't matter to us, is incomparable to that of Renfe users. And of course the problem is the lack of investment. Even more, the lack of investment and execution. What's being invested in now? Very well, but we're decades late.

To make matters worse, the works councils of Renfe and Adif have called a seven-day strike, starting next week, because the drivers don't want to be transferred to the Generalitat.

Mirin, this morning, an ARA reporter who, like almost every day, has arrived late because of the Cercanías, explained that today's episode consisted of there being so many passengers on the platforms in Granollers that by the time those getting off the trains have boarded the carriages, they're done. No one has gotten off, of course, and the job is to continue the journey.

Governments, opposition, and unions: don't abuse people's patience any further.
