BarcelonaWith all the generalist channels already with one foot in the summer programming, it is time to take stock of a season that has shown that television can still generate debate, as seen with the brawl between The anthill and The revoltDespite the differences in audiences between Spain and Catalonia as a whole, there's one common thread: Telecinco's collapse is a fact.

TV3 leads the way, improving compared to last year.

Els presentadors de les campanades de TV3

TV3 continues its consolidated leadership and this season improves its audience by two-tenths of a percentage point compared to last season. Thus, the Catalan public channel stands at a 14.1% audience share, more than five points ahead of the second most-watched channel in Catalonia, La 1.

Among the most-watched programs, football stands out, always attracting crowds (of the ten most-watched programs of the season, seven are football). This year, it was able to broadcast the Copa del Rey final, after years of drought, and this adds to the good results of the Women's Champions League. Outside of sports, this list also highlights the news and the New Year's Eve Chimes, always one of the major television events of the season. Among this season's major achievements are In the mornings, which has reached a share of 19%, and the As if it were yesterday, which reaches a share by 18.9%.

Their data also improvesIt's happening, which last year had 213,000 spectators and a 13.5% share share and this season it has risen seven-tenths, to 14.2%, already marking 215,000 followers. Two classics such as Crimes and The stranger.

Antena 3, Spain's favorite for the fourth consecutive season

Una màquina rejovenidora, L’objecte de desig de Pablo Motos

For four seasons now, Antena 3 has held the lead in Spain. It shows no signs of relinquishing its top spot. Across the country, Atresmedia's first channel was once again the viewers' favorite, achieving a 12.7% audience share, just two-tenths less than last season. In Spain, it was the most-watched channel every month throughout the season. As for Catalonia, it must be content with third place, which gives it a share 8.2%, a figure that represents a decrease of half a point compared to the previous year.

Despite its longevity and the arrival of David Broncano at La 1, The anthill continues to be one of Antena 3's favorites. The end-of-year data prove it: Pablo Motos' program remains the channel's most-watched program. Of the ten most-watched programs this year, three correspond to the talk showIn fact, Motos' interview with Lamine Yamal is the channel's second most-watched program of the season, surpassed only by the New Year's Eve Chimes. In Spain, 3.1 million viewers watched the Barça player's appearance, while in Catalonia the number was 264,000.

Beyond Motos, Antena 3's other strong point is its evening news, game shows, andThe wheel of fortune and Pasapalabra–, as well as the tabletop series, Dreams of freedom, which last season already marked 13.5% of share And this year it has continued to bring joy to the network. In fact, the soap opera starring Natalia Sánchez is currently the most-watched series on Spanish television, with an average of 1.2 million viewers.

La 1 achieves its best rating in eight years

Un moment de David Broncano a La revuelta

Last year, La 1 achieved second place in the Spanish channel ranking, but it was a narrow victory, as it actually tied with Telecinco and only surpassed the Mediaset channel in viewership. This year, the silverware is much sweeter: it achieves two-tenths more than last year—jumping from a 10.1% share to 10.3%—and surpasses Telecinco by six-tenths. In Catalonia, the Spanish public channel also comes in second and improves its figures, going from 8.5% to 8.9%. All of this allows it to complete its best season of the last eight.

When it comes to programs, there are two titles that stand out and are the two sides of La 1's schedule. On the one hand, there is The revolt13.8% share, which has managed to attract new viewers to the network and, above all, has monopolized the television conversation. Although it has gone from strength to strength, it has made a dent in the entertainment program rankings. La 1's downfall has obviously been The TV family, one of the most resounding failures of this season. Channel 1 has collapsed trying to reproduce the glory days of Save me, a format that has proven to be outdated and out of place on public television.

What has also greatly helped La 1 have been the major television events. In this sense, of the 25 most-watched broadcasts this year in all of Spain, 24 are for TVE, mostly football broadcasts. This list also includes Eurovision and its voting – the ninth and seventh most-watched programs of the season, respectively – and the New Year's Eve Chimes, with the duo David Broncano and Lalachus were the preferred choice for Spaniards ahead of Antena 3 and Cristina Pedroche.

Telecinco, collapsed

Un moment de 'La isla de las tentaciones'.

Mediaset's leading channel is struggling to halt its decline. The 2024/25 season was the worst in its history, and it has experienced notable failures, such as Babylon Show, canceled two weeks after its premiere. It has also had to make changes of course, such as returning Ana Rosa Quintana to the morning slot after an unsuccessful stint in the afternoons.

In Spain, the network has signed a 9.5% share, four-tenths less than the previous year, which shows that Telecinco is not recovering. In Catalonia the drop is more or less similar: it loses three-tenths and registers a 7.5% audience share.

Although it seemed that Telecinco wanted to change the tone of its programming, reality shows They continue to work very well and with this they save the day. Of the ten most watched broadcasts on the channel, half are from The island of temptations, one of the television phenomena of this course as a result of The viral success of contestant Montoya. Also appears on the list Survivors, which continues to grow despite constantly adding seasons. And as usual, having sports broadcasting rights is a guarantee of success: five Club World Cup matches are included in the channel's most-watched ranking.

As for fiction, the channel's Achilles heel, Telecinco seemed to have hit the nail on the head with The Favorite 1922, which had a very good start with a first episode that achieved a 17.1% rating share. As episodes have continued to add, viewership has languished, and the penultimate episode, aired on June 30, already had a 6.6% rating. It doesn't help that the series can also be seen on Netflix, where week after week it appears among the platform's most-watched in Spain.

Cuatro, the network with the biggest growth

L'equip de 'First dates'

It's not all bad news for Mediaset. Its second channel, Cuatro, has seen the biggest increase of the year, adding half a point compared to the previous year. Thus, the channel remains at a 5.9% share, its best figure in the last six seasons, remaining in fifth place on the list of the most-watched channels in Spain. In Catalonia, it also increases, but less than in the country as a whole: it adds three-tenths of a point and its share is 4.8%.

The list of the channel's ten most-watched programs is dominated by weekend afternoon film offerings. Also appearing in the ranking is one of the channel's classic programs, dating First dates, which in one of its broadcasts reached one million viewers and a share of 8.6%.

La Sexta holds its own ahead of Cuatro

Jordi Évole i els Estopa a 'Lo de Évole'.

Although Cuatro has experienced a considerable rise, Mediaset's second channel has not managed to make the overtaking on La Sexta, which in Spain remains the fourth most-watched channel. Atresmedia's second channel has gained two-tenths of a percentage point compared to the previous year, reaching a 6.6% audience share. In Catalonia, its growth is even greater: with four-tenths of a percentage point, it achieves a 6.1% audience share. share.

Jordi Évole remains one of the channel's flagship shows. His show, Évole's thing, monopolizes the list of the channel's most-watched programs. In fact, the two episodes dedicated to Gabriel Rufián are the two most-watched broadcasts of the year. Beyond the Catalan program, the commitment to information continues to be one of La Sexta's strengths. The news programs and interviews with relevant current affairs figures, such as Óscar Puente and Fernando Grande-Marlaska, also achieve good ratings.

And although it doesn't appear in the ranking of the ten most-watched programs, it's worth highlighting the continued good performance of Alfons Arús's magazine. Aruseros, which with a 16.8% audience share is the leader in its time slot in the country for the third consecutive year.
