BarcelonaThis April will be one of the most powerful months of the year in terms of series premieres. Some big titles say goodbye with final seasons and others return after long absences. We review what we can see on the platforms during April.

'This is not a murder mystery'

This curious Belgian production sets a typical Agatha Christie scenario. During a social gathering at an English country house, a murder is committed and all the guests end up being suspects in the death. The twist in this miniseries is that the guests at this house are some of the most celebrated artists of surrealism, who have been gathered by an English lord who wants to exhibit the work of all of them. Catalan actor Iñaki Mur plays Salvador Dalí, a suspect in the murder, as are also his wife, Gala, René Magritte, Man Ray, and Lee Miller.

At the time of its premiere, The Handmaid's Tale caused a great social impact. After six seasons and with June's ending already tied up, a spin-off now arrives with the blessing of Margaret Atwood, author of the original story. The Testaments takes us back to Gilead to explain the story of two young women, Agnes, very pious, and Daisy, who has just arrived from beyond the borders of the theocratic dictatorship. Both meet at a school that prepares the country's young women to become proper wives. Their training is overseen by Aunt Lydia, a terrifying character who already appeared in The Handmaid's Tale. One of the protagonists is Chase Infiniti, a rising star after her participation in One Battle After Another.

'The Boys'

One of Prime Video's most celebrated series says goodbye to its followers. In this fifth and final season, the world is dominated by the superhero Patriot and his egomaniacal whims that may resonate especially in this current era of the United States. For her part, Annie is trying to organize a resistance movement with the help of the Supers, humans artificially created with extraordinary powers. Everything is heading towards a definitive confrontation.

'Hacks'

The other series saying goodbye this April is Hacks, one of the awards' favorite comedies. In this fifth and final season, Deborah (Jean Smart) and Ava (Hannah Einbinder) return to Las Vegas after the news of the former's death is mistakenly published. The two comedians and partners have one goal: to secure Deborah's legacy as a comedian.

'Euphoria'

After a four-year wait, , one of HBO Max's biggest titles, returns. With such a gap between the second and third seasons, the series has been forced to evolve its characters, who have already left the walls of the high school where they studied in the early installments. Not much is known about the plot, but from what we've seen in the trailer, there will be violence, drug trafficking, and a lot of lowlifes. In a show full of trending names –Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney, and Hunter Schafer–, the addition of to the cast stands out. The singer, who plays a pole dance dancer, has stated that in the series she will be heard speaking in Catalan, among other languages.

'Margo has money problems'

Elle Fanning, Michelle Pfeiffer and Nicole Kidman. These three big names are the main draw of this dramatic comedy based on a literary bestseller. Fanning plays Margo, a university student raised in a rather humble and unstructured environment who gets pregnant after hooking up with her literature professor, a man who has no intention of taking responsibility for the child. A single mother overwhelmed by a very precarious economic situation, Margo will open an OnlyFans channel where she will simulate a new identity following the advice of her father, a professional wrestler.

'Argument'

When it premiered on Netflix, Bronca was presented as a miniseries. But as often happens with successful productions, it has ended up being a series, albeit an anthology one. Thus, each new season features new couples pushed to the limit and eager for conflict. On this occasion, the story is set in a country club for affluent people. A Gen Z couple –Cailee Spaeny and Charles Melton– witnesses a fight between their boss and his wife (Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan). This leads to a series of coercive moves in which the club's Korean billionaire owner also becomes involved.

One of the most anticipated Spanish productions of this season is this dramedy created by Marta Bassols and Marta Loza and produced by Javier Ambrossi and Javier Calvo. The protagonist of the series is Laura, who gets pregnant a week after meeting Rubén at a party. Six months after the child's birth, they are no longer together and Laura takes care of the creature almost single-handedly. She does it as well as she can, even though she often doesn't have the necessary tools even to take care of herself.

'Half Man'

Baby Reindeer positioned Richard Gadd as one of the most interesting creators in the audiovisual world. The Scotsman premieres a new project about two men with a bond so deep that they consider each other brothers. After three decades without seeing each other, Rubén reappears at Niall's wedding. Usually affable, he doesn't seem like himself, he is restless and nervous. An outburst of violence will make the two men review 30 years of their lives. HBO Max defines it as a miniseries that explores "brotherhood, violence, and the intense fragility of male relationships." Besides Gadd, the cast is led by Jamie Bell, who plays Niall.
