The PP and 'El Mundo', caught red-handed

Silvia Intxaurrondo definitively wins the legal battle she was waging against The WorldThe newspaper will have to retract a false report that linked its renewal with RTVE to the tough interview it conducted around that time with the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo. The newspaper appealed, but the appeal was rejected, so the Supreme Court's ruling becomes final. Beyond the obvious malpractice, there are two details that clearly illustrate how the entrenched and entrenched Spanish press operates. It turns out that the PP submitted a parliamentary question in Congress to demand explanations about the scandal published by... The WorldThe record indicates that this request was submitted on March 1, 2024. But, alas, the news item it referred to, which had so scandalized them, didn't actually appear until three days later. Therefore, either the PP members possess prophetic abilities that would put Aramis Fuster to shame, or there was a very direct connection between the party and the media outlet, but the newspaper forgot to warn that it would delay publishing that bombshell. Call me insensitive to cosmic energies and the influence of the stars, but I'm more inclined to believe the latter.

The other issue is the deafening silence maintained by the Madrid Press Association on this case, an organization usually quite vocal when it comes to denouncing the alleged persecution of right-wing journalists. All of this reveals a perverse system in which the PP (People's Party) uses media outlets it considers its own and conducts coordinated campaigns, as has already been clearly demonstrated. And, to top it all off, if it suits them, they take it to court with the help of one of those far-right unions that are also their instruments of power. Very sanitized and edifying indeed.
