The magic of radio, as the saying goes. And yes: its evocative power through the voice transports and provides companionship. But perhaps to temper these mystical impulses, it's worth talking today about the other magic of radio: the kind that makes listeners believe, the day after the EGM ratings are released, that everyone has won. This time it's been easy, because overall consumption of the medium has increased and everyone can focus on their gains. But the way the press covers it is often colored by its editorial interests.

For example, The Vanguard He narrates RAC1's triumph with evident emphasis. And yes, his station is indeed making history, and its professionals deserve congratulations. But a reasonable account of the results should acknowledge, for example, that on Saturdays, Catalunya Ràdio leads with its morning magazine program. You win 10 to 1: it's perfectly acceptable to admit you conceded a goal. The same applies to... The Country, who sings the praises of SER and forgets to mention that, in the case of sports formats, Play time Cope is the leader. Another case of 10 to 1.ABCHowever, it exaggerates this victory, since the newspaper, in 2017, signed a strategic agreement with the bishops' radio station to make it, in a way, its unofficial radio network. And so it is only in the last sentence that SER is mentioned as the leader. Inverted pyramid? Hold my gin and tonic. And the article makes absurd claims such as that Carlos Herrera is the most "influential," a characteristic that the EGM (General Media Study) doesn't measure, and which in any case isn't supported by any audience data, since Àngels Barceló beats him drastically, year after year. The reason, Meanwhile, they only talk about Onda Cero—which belongs to their group—without even mentioning the existence of SER or Cope. Basically, everyone wins. Except journalism, of course.
