The game of the stalled
The next regional elections in Spain are those of Castilla y León and the four Madrid newspapers are sharpening their pencils to influence them with their respective electoral polls. There are no significant discrepancies, up or down, but the headlines do hint at the editorial intentions of each. El País remains attached to its talisman and lowers its voice to sound like Alfonso Guerra to exclaim its famous "The right is coming!" with the headline "Vox gains ground in Castilla y León with 20% of the vote and the PP stagnates". On the other hand, for El Mundo it is the socialists who get stuck – oh surprise – and the popular ones advance: "The PP grows while Vox approaches 20% and the PSOE stagnates". What is it then? The tie is served by Abc, which in my opinion nails the interpretation the most: "PP and Vox consolidate in Castilla y León with a PSOE that resists".
One already understands that the cave wants to create the illusion of a string of regional electoral catastrophes, but the truth is that demographics do not indicate any resounding defeat of the socialist option. Perhaps the communities have their own dynamics and it's not all Feijóo effects and other inventions from Relatilandia. However, the newspaper only fails to explain that the formation of government depends on an agreement with the far-right, but we already know that this is a taboo word. As is also for La Razón, which writes: "The center-right achieves an absolute majority in Castilla y León with 47/49 seats". That the newspaper of the honorary commissioner does not headline with the glories of the PP is the infallible proof that its projected results are of misery and company. If Feijóo was expecting the Castilian elections as an opportunity to tear his shirt and claim to be an electoral Hulk capable of dragging the whole State from the territory, he better put the cava back in the fridge. Or the pacharán.
