The Crit Awards for Catalan content creators are born.
Organized by 3Cat, AMIC and the Fundació puntCat

BarcelonaThe Teatre Nacional de Catalunya will host the first edition of its new awards on June 20th. These are the Crit Awards, which seek to recognize excellence in the creation of content in the digital sphere and in the Catalan language. The initiative is promoted by 3Cat, the Association of Information and Communication Media (AMIC), and the Fundació puntCat.
The organizers' aim is to "recognize, promote, and professionalize the creation of content in the Catalan language," and therefore will recognize creators and projects "that have contributed to the dissemination and normalization of the Catalan language in the digital environment." At the awards presentation held on Tuesday, Rosa Romà, president of the Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation 3Cat, stressed the strategic nature of supporting this type of content: "Young people in our country are on the networks and at 3Cat we want to contribute to ensuring that they find quality, informative and creative content.
For his part, Genís Roca, president of the puntCat Foundation, highlighted the ability of the entity he represents to connect talent: "And that is precisely what we have done with the organization of the Crit Awards. We have connected various key players in the Catalan digital ecosystem, including members of our advisory committee, to play a role." Finally, Ramon Grau, president of AMIC, drew continuity between previous editions of the awards organized by the Association and the media outlet Tresdeu, since "promoting creativity and the language in various formats is in AMIC's DNA." "We must promote areas where young people clearly connect with Catalan; music is an example, and social media content should be one as well," he added.
Applications have already opened and will close on May 6. All creators or projects that publish content predominantly in Catalan are eligible. They must be submitted through the awards website. The different categories are: entertainment, information and current affairs, scientific dissemination, art and culture, social commitment, sports, language, gastronomy, humor, and lifestyle.
There are also general categories, with nominations proposed and selected by the organization and the advisory committee, made up of sector experts and representatives of associations and institutions working to promote and disseminate the Catalan language and culture. These categories are: Best Creator of the Year, Most Innovative Project, Best Digital Campaign, and Best Project of the Year. Finally, there will be the award for Emerging Creator of the Year, nominated by the audience, and the award for Best Video of the Year, in which the public can enter any video in Catalan generated by a creator or group of creators that has the potential to win.
