The 'Abc' asks itself if the PNB is the worst in Spain

BarcelonaThose of us who are of a certain age and have some memory recall a phrase by Federico Jiménez Losantos on Cope radio during the Ibarretxe plan era: "The worst of all is Atutxa, because he seems good." Juan María Atutxa was then Minister of the Interior and would later become President of Parliament. It's curious, but hatred of the PNB is a classic of the Spanish right-wing press, a genre of its own in which the columnist for Abc" José F. Peláez, whom I didn't have the pleasure of knowing, now excels. But after reading his article "Is the PNB the worst in Spain?", I'm clear that a star has been born in the fatxosfèric universe.

"I've been thinking about it for days and it's difficult to combine the worst of the PSOE and the worst of the far-right in one acronym, but they have achieved it," writes Peláez with that casual and offensive style that is so liked in the capital of the State. And he continues: "The reactionary meapilismo, village identity politics, and xenophobic racism combined with submission to the PSOE [...], this strange ability to swallow all the woke postulates but with a green sweater over their shoulders".

Why are they so angry with the PNB? Because the Spanish right-wing has always seen them as traitors of the worst kind, people who go to mass daily and support the reds only for money and to maintain their spheres of power. They are even worse than those of Bildu, because they don't deceive with their neo-communist postulates, and also worse than those of ERC. Right now, the PNB is more hated in conservative circles in Madrid than Carles Puigdemont and Junts themselves, who have already rushed to distance themselves from Sánchez and align themselves with the PP and Vox in some votes. In contrast, the PNB has not done so. It remains unperturbed within the majority of the Sanchista investiture. And for them, that is unforgivable.
