RTVE isn't satisfied with the money and shakes up the 'Telediarios'
The management renews the news and leaves only the midday news program unchanged.

BarcelonaA dance of names and faces on Televisión Española's news programs. The public broadcaster has renewed most of its news anchors for the new season, with the aim of continuing to improve audience figures that have recently been favorable enough to achieve their best season in the last five years. While it was known that Pepa Bueno had been brought back from the company,The Country After his dismissal for leading Telediario 2, it has now been learned that there will also be changes this weekend and that Marc Sala will be the one –until now, in The time of La 1– and Lourdes Maldonado –RNE's afternoon host– will be the presenter, replacing Lara Siscar and Igor Gómez.
There will also be changes in the morning, with Álex Barreiro continuing, but with a new partner: Lorena Baeza, who arrives from La Sexta, where she worked as a reporter on programs such as The Sixth News, In the red hot and The objectiveThe midday edition is the only one that won't change, so Alejandra Herranz will continue to report the news during the afternoon show. Aside from that, Rosana Romero will be in charge of Sports and Mònica López will be the chief meteorologist.
With this change, TVE is looking to close the gap with Antena 3, which remains the leader in Spain in terms of newscasts. In Catalonia, the most-watched newscasts, far ahead of its rivals, are those on TV3.
"This group of journalists is the best possible proposal for what is shaping up to be a very demanding season," explained Jon Ariztimuño, the network's news director, during the presentation of the renewed roster. "We are the largest generator of audiovisual news content in the country and a reference for 600 million Spanish speakers around the world. We are the public broadcaster. There is a lot of journalistic excellence, and with all the humility in the world, we want to compete with our hallmarks: rigor, plurality, and the backbone of a rich and plural state."
The editorial director took advantage of the presentation to praise the work of his journalists during these times of harassment, such as that suffered by some TVE professionals covering the events in Torre Pacheco. "We are concerned. There is an escalation of tension, and professionals are often persecuted; we have a poor image... We assert the right and duty we have to citizens to report as a public television station. A well-informed society is one that can make decisions about life and the future, and we will be there as a public broadcaster, providing information," Ariztimuño explained.
Pepa Bueno also took advantage of the presentation to explain her approach to the evening newscast. "TD2 forces you to go 50 centimeters beyond the pure news. We must try to be useful to viewers with detail and an honest approach. Reality exists, beyond the stories," concluded the former director ofThe Country.
In the overall newscasts, Antena 3 leads in Spain with an 18.6% audience share, followed by La 1 with 11.2%, Telecinco (9.5%), La Sexta (8.3%) and Cuatro (5.9%). The order of the table remains the same if we look at each edition, although it is true that weekend nights have the closest result, with an 11.9% share for Atresmedia's first channel, compared to 10.8% for La 1. The public channel also leads in cumulative viewers for the newscast and weekend nights.
In the case of Catalonia, TV3 has achieved a 23.0% share this year. share, which leaves everyone else far behind. But La 1 has the consolation of surpassing Antena 3 and coming in second, with 9.5% to the private channel's 9.2%. Thus, in Catalonia, Newscast It's the second choice in the afternoon edition (both on weekdays and weekends), while Antena 3 manages to stay closer to TV3 in the midday edition. However, this July isn't exactly working out for the Spanish public, as Antena 3 is managing to remain second in every edition, with a nearly three-point audience share advantage over La 1.
RNE also moves
Beyond television, the state-owned radio station will also experience a general shakeup of its schedule. Management has removed Josep Cuní from hosting the morning news program after only one year. His replacement will be Juan Ramón Lucas, who had previously hosted the public radio station's morning program between 2007 and 2012, in addition to launching the news program. More than one on Onda Cero, with Carlos Alsina.
