Marc Giró lands on La Sexta with Estopa as first guests
'Facing the show', the communicator's new program, starts this Tuesday at 11:00 PM
BarcelonaAfter many weeks of boiling the pot with his arrival at La Sexta, this Tuesday the program hosted by Marc Giró premieres on the second channel of Atresmedia. Following the path of the Late show that until a few months ago he did on La 1, Giró premieres Cara al show, a weekly interview program that will always include a "reivindicative" monologue, according to the network. The godparents of the first episode, which airs from 11:00 PM, will be Estopa, who have already appeared in the program's promotions recorded inside an elevator, one of the hallmarks of the now defunct public television program that is also used in Cara al show. The new space is produced in Catalonia, specifically from Terrassa.
In addition to Estopa, the first program will also feature guests Jordi Évole and Eduardo Casanova, who are promoting the documentary Sidosa, a work in which the actor talks about his life with HIV. As was already the case in Late xou, in each episode, after the initial monologue, there will be two interviews with well-known figures from the cultural, social, political, or sports spheres in Spain. There will also be segments and collaborators. Among the confirmed names are actress Yolanda Ramos, journalist and comedian Pepe Colubi, and choreographer and dancer Nacho Duato, who is debuting as a television collaborator.
Two elements that are maintained from Late xou are the presence of Las Glorias Cabareteras (the duo formed by Marta Bernal and Gloria Martínez), who will continue to do their improvised interventions, and the Giró’s Boys Band, who will continue to provide live music. At the end of each program there will be a musical performance. In the case of the first broadcast, the guest will be Chiara Oliver, a singer from Menorca who gained recognition in Operación Triunfo 2023.
From La 1 to La Sexta
Marc Giró is La Sexta's star signing for this season, along with Aimar Bretos, who will soon premiere La noche de Aimar. In recent years, the Catalan has become one of the most sought-after names on Spanish television and has received offers from various channels, as he himself has acknowledged on several occasions. A large part of his appeal is due to Late xou, which started in 2023 on La 1 in the broadcast for Catalonia. Its good reception led it to move to La 2 in October 2023 and be broadcast in Spanish for the entire country. In 2025 it was announced that he would become part of La 1's programming and team up with La revuelta by David Broncano. The decision to leave the public broadcaster left a void in La 1's programming, which has now been filled by Henar Álvarez with Al cielo con ella, the late-night show he used to do on La 2.
In a recent interview on Lo de Évole, Giró explained that one of the reasons that led him to sign with La Sexta was "stability." "At RTVE there were many interruptions, there was no stability. The program was stopped, they changed it from one channel to another. I couldn't tell the team 'We'll focus on this.' There was no horizon," he detailed. In this regard, he assures that with La Sexta he has had the feeling that they "really wanted the program I was doing." "They wanted it with a certain enthusiasm and they gave me a certain security, continuity, stability, and comfort. I liked the tone," said Giró. The communicator will continue to combine the television program with Vostè primer, the daily radio show he presents and directs on RAC1 and which reached 171,000 listeners in the last EGM survey, a notable increase compared to the 132,000 it had in April 2025.
