The Catalan Audiovisual Media Corporation (CCMA) reviewed the two-year anniversary of 3Cat on Tuesday. In that time, the service, which replaced the former 3 en la Carta, has become the third most popular video-on-demand platform in Catalonia, behind Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. Each week, one million unique devices connect, accumulating nearly 500 million views from a repository of 357,000 hours of content. Beyond the overall figures, the public broadcaster's management emphasized that 3Cat has fulfilled its mission: to reach audiences who have abandoned traditional television en masse, primarily those under 45 years of age. In this sense, 43% of the platform's users belong to this younger group, in stark contrast to the equivalent data for TV3, where those under 45 years old represent only 13%. "We have done so by positioning Catalan in a digital environment where the presence of our language is very limited," remarked Rosa Romà, president of the CCMA. Unlike traditional television data—also called linear television—audience in the digital sphere is not measured in viewers but in devices: for the majority of consumption, there is no way of knowing whether one or more people are watching a screen behind a connection. The Corporation believes that penetration among younger segments of the population is even greater than recorded, since it is easy for children and teenagers to watch content as a family from a device connected through the profile of one of the adults in the household.

During the presentation, the policy of using the platform to refresh the universe of traditional faces associated with TV3 was also defended, with the aim of incorporating professionals who are fluent in the language of social media. The most common example is that of Laura Escanes and the adventure competition show. The journeywhich achieves a 33% viewership among those under 35. According to network executives, this program, the Card game by Marc Ribas and the crime chronicle section CrimesPresented by Carles Porta, these are the programs that attract the most viewers who don't speak Catalan as their first language.

The event also served to confirm the undeniable success of the universe, even today. Dragon Ball Among Catalan viewers, in the two years since 3Cat launched, the various series associated with this saga have garnered 18 million views. A breakdown by age reveals that nostalgia is a key driver of viewership: 37% of connected devices are registered to users between 35 and 44 years old, and 29% belong to that age group. In fact, viewers under 34 years old account for only 20% of total viewership. However, it's important to note that, for data protection reasons, children under 14 do not have their own registered user accounts, so their viewing is likely attributed to an adult.
