Cultural and leisure activities

Families who love theater have a date at FiraTàrrega. At the beginning of September, national and international companies meet at this performing arts market, considered one of the most important in Spain and the benchmark in Southern Europe. For a few days, the streets of the capital of Urgell are transformed into an authentic artistic stage, where the public can discover the productions and shows that are to come. In this 46th edition, under the motto "Let's Celebrate", 57 shows will be on display, some of which from 11 international companiesfrom 9 countries.

In the Family itinerary, you will find proposals for dance, theater, and circus for all ages. Notable mentions include the itinerant show Nüwa by Alea Teatre, which is inspired by Chinese mythology; El viatge de la Lua, the new production by clown Alba Sarraute, or Camins de bosc,the interactive free-play installation with logs and wood for early childhood by the company Apikipala.

These days you can enjoy the 15th edition of La Terrasseta in Tarragona, an independent festival that year after year bets on a "counter-current" program with musical and contemporary circus proposals. From September 10th to 13th, the Saavedra Park will host names of artists such as Kumbia Queers, Anna Andreu, Renaldo & Clara, Maruja Limón, Las Petunias or Dame Area, who will make young and old dance. You will also find family-friendly proposals, a local gastronomic area and DJ sessions. The ticket price is 5 euros for Thursday and Sunday and 10 euros for Friday and Saturday. And the pass for the four days costs 20 euros.

If the land of fairy tales exists, it is surely in Medinyà, in the Gironès region, where for one day the streets and squares are filled with readings and magic. In addition to shows, storytellers, literary creation workshops, and recreational activities, you will also find more than 50 stalls from bookstores, publishers, artisans, workshop leaders, social and cultural entities, authors, and illustrators. Children, young people, and adults enjoy this artistic-literary genre and spend a truly fairy-tale day.

As a curiosity, this fair was born from the concern of a group of residents when they discovered that in 1862 the Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen passed through Medinyà on his way to Barcelona, as he recounts in his diaries.

The family activities at La Pedrera - Casa Milà are a very good opportunity to visit this unique building in the city and at the same time learn more about its architecture. You already know that Gaudí was very inspired by nature. For this reason, in this activity, full of mystery, you will be able to find out which animals and plants are hidden within the walls of La Pedrera - Casa Milà.

Here is a theatrical proposal for the little ones at home, Aire by L'Autèntica Teatre. Aire is the new production from this independent theatre hall in the Gràcia neighbourhood, specialised in early childhood. A scenic proposal inhabited by floating objects, lightweight materials and soundscapes that invite children to explore, imagine and discover with all their senses. Here, participants can freely roam through five spaces that represent the different forms of air: the current, the breath, the gust, the bubble and the fall. A true immersive experience where we can observe how our sons and daughters interact with it.

Until October you still have time to visit the corn maze at Granja Pifarré in Lleida. An activity that brings the Horta de Lleida and the work of local producers closer to all audiences. Throughout its route you will have to overcome a series of agricultural, educational, and equally entertaining tests, under the slogan "Flavors of the West". It is an ideal activity to do with family and friends. Furthermore, when you finish you will be able to have something on their small terrace with products from Ponent and let the children play in the rural play area with a tractor circuit. The corn maze opens on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings in September and October. The ticket price is €10 for adults and €8 for children.

There is still the whole month of September to enjoy an archaeological adventure at the Poble Espanyol in Barcelona. Rediscovering this iconic space in the capital is a perfect option to bid farewell to summer. The itinerary travels through streets full of history, slides down giant slides, and solves fun challenges. The little ones will be able to visit interactive exhibitions in the different areas of the venue, as well as complete an archaeological scavenger hunt by solving clues and challenges. The activity, available every day until September 30th, is recommended for children between 4 and 12 years old. In addition, the kit is available in Catalan, Spanish, English, Italian, German, and French, a unique opportunity to learn languages.

Super3 makes the leap from the screen to the physical world with the opening of Fantàstix, the Super3 imagination factory. This new cultural and experiential leisure space, located in the heart of Barcelona, was created to reclaim the power of stories and imagination. With an area of 2,000 m², Fantàstix proposes an hour-long immersive journey in which children between 2 and 12 years old and their families stop being passive spectators to become the protagonists of a collective adventure, led by the most well-known Super3 characters, such as Titó, Mic, the Betas, and some protagonists of Fuet, Ladybug and Maya the Bee. The Super3 imagination factory is open from Monday to Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on weekends and holidays from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the box office and on the website Fantastixsuper3.com.
