Lemon was released without bail and with permission to travel in and out of the country, despite facing two charges: conspiracy to violate constitutional rights and violation of the FACE Act, which prohibits interfering, through the use of force or threats, with a person's right to freedom of expression. Lemon was arrested Thursday night in Los Angeles while working to cover preparations for the Grammy Awards. "For the past 30 years, I have covered the news. The First Amendment to the Constitution protects this work, both for me and for countless other journalists who do the same thing. They will not silence me. I look forward to my day in court," the well-known journalist declared as he left the courthouse.
