Former Romanian President Ion Iliescu dies

Ion Iliescu, former president of Romania, has died at the age of 95 from lung cancer. He was the first democratically elected Romanian head of state after the fall of Nicolae Ceausescu's communist regime in 1989. Iliescu served as president from 1990 to 1996 and from 2000 to 2004.
