At least 20 dead and 45 injured in the collapse of a building in Gaza
Entire families have to live in blocks semi-destroyed by Israeli bombings
BarcelonaWith most buildings razed and almost no space left in displacement camps, many Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have no other alternative but to live in semi-destroyed buildings during Israel's genocidal campaign. An apartment block full of people collapsed this Wednesday at dawn in Gaza City.
According to Civil Protection officials contacted by phone, the collapse has left 20 dead and 45 injured, while emergency teams and neighbors, who are working with their bare hands because Israel does not allow tools and machinery to enter the Strip, continue searching for five people in the rubble.
Local media point out that the building had been hit by an Israeli bombing that had damaged its six-story structure with four apartments each. The Israeli blockade on the entry of machinery and construction materials has made it impossible so far to begin reconstruction, and these collapses are becoming increasingly frequent.
