Andy Burnham, officially named Labour candidate for the Makerfield constituency

The British Labour Party has officially named the mayor of Manchester, Andy Burnham, this afternoon as the candidate for the Makerfield constituency in the by-election that will take place in the second half of next month. If he wins, Burnham will challenge the leadership of Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
