27 people die in a bar fire in Bangkok

The fire department has managed to extinguish the fire, which also left several injured, after half an hour

BarcelonaAt least 27 people have died in a pub fire in Bangkok tonight, early morning in Thailand, authorities have reported. The fire started before midnight in a brewery in Na Padprao, north of the Thai capital, and around 00:26 a.m. (local time) firefighters had managed to control the flames, according to the Efe agency, citing the Thai public channel Thai PBS.

The Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, traveled to the scene to supervise the situation and reported the deaths of 27 people and that several injured had been taken to the hospital. The bar is located in the Chatuchak district and is a famous entertainment venue in the area, according to the Thai media Daily News.

Photos taken inside the bar after the fire was extinguished show that it was completely charred and blackened, and that the roof was coming off.

In August 2022, a nightclub fire in Thailand left at least 15 dead and 37 injured, and the owner was accused of negligence and operating the nightlife establishment without a license.
