The progressive withdrawal of the tax reduction on fuels coincides with the start of the summer holidays for many families

BarcelonaThe progressive withdrawal of the tax reduction on fuels initiated this August will make filling the tank this summer a greater effort for many families going on vacation. Furthermore, the war in Iran continues and, although the price of crude oil has fallen in recent weeks, there is no indication that the situation will stabilize. Despite Donald Trump's comings and goings to try to reduce the price of oil on the markets through an agreement with Iran, the sharp turns that characterize the President of the United States suggest that instability in the Middle East – and, consequently, in energy markets – will persist. Additionally, road trips are gaining popularity this summer.

Therefore, fueling the vehicle can mean significant price differences depending on the gas station chosen. Through this interactive map of Catalonia compiled by ARA, users can check which supply points are the most affordable near your location, for both unleaded 95 gasoline, unleaded 98 gasoline, and diesel.

The differences between the most expensive and cheapest gas stations are substantial, with prices that can be below 1.5 euros per liter – in the case of unleaded 95 gasoline – and others that can exceed 1.8 euros per liter for the same type of fuel. Taking into account that the savings in some cases can be around 30 cents per liter, the impact on consumers' pockets is significant. A 50-liter tank – the usual capacity of an average car – could be filled with an expense that would range between 75 and 90 euros.

As the interactive map elaborated by ARA shows, the cheapest gas stations are concentrated mainly in the central and western part of Catalonia, as well as in the Vallès area closest to Barcelona. Along the coast and also in the Pre-Pyrenees and Pyrenees areas, on the other hand, service stations present higher prices. However, in these same areas, low-cost alternatives also appear that present themselves as an option if the additional travel to the point of sale compensates for the savings obtained.
