The invoicing of companies to the State grows at the highest rate of the last 15 months
Revenues accumulate four consecutive months upwards despite the Middle East conflict
BarcelonaCompany turnover in Spain is growing at the highest rate in the last 15 months despite the geopolitical instability arising from the conflict in the Middle East. According to the latest provisional data published this Monday by the National Statistics Institute (INE), company revenues compared to last year increased by 8.9% during the month of June, five points more compared to the year-on-year variation registered in May.
The improvement corresponding to the month of June is the highest since March 2025, when the General Index of Business Turnover (ICNE) also registered a year-on-year increase of 8.9%. To find an even more significant increase in sales, one must go back to January 2023, when company turnover grew by 9.5%.
The growth was generalized across all sectors. Trade led the index's rebound, with a 9.4% improvement in turnover, followed by the extractive and manufacturing industry, with an increase of 9.2%. Below the average variation are the supply of electricity and water, sanitation, and waste management, with an 8.1% increase in revenue, and non-financial services, with a 7.7% increase.
With the updated numbers, business turnover has accumulated four consecutive months of increases, coinciding with the period that has elapsed since the start of attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran.
The data, in fact, coincides with what the association of Catalan proximity trade, Comertia, indicated two weeks ago, which in its latest survey pointed to a boom in sales of 6.7% in June and 7.6% in July, the best figure of the last year.
Trade does not slow down
In the year-to-date, trade also presents itself as the business sector that has most increased sales. According to INE data, turnover in the sector has increased by 6% since January, well above the average growth of 4.8% recorded in Spanish companies as a whole.
The non-financial services sector also shows good performance, with a 5% increase in revenue, while the extractive and manufacturing industry has accumulated growth of 4.2% since the beginning of the year. The only sector that experienced a fall in the first half of the year was the supply of electricity and water, with a decrease of 1.7% between January and June.
