Nvidia wants to fight all battles. The most valuable company on the planet, until now specializing in the production of graphics memories (GPUs), has kicked down the door this Monday to the market for processors for personal computers. In its intervention at the Computex technology conference, held in Taipei (Taiwan), the CEO of the tech giant, Jensen Huang, revealed the new RTX Spark Superchip, a microprocessor dedicated to consumer laptops. With this technology, designed to process the latest artificial intelligence applications and agents, Nvidia enters fully into the battle with processor manufacturers, such as Apple, Intel, or AMD.

According to Huang, the company's new microprocessor is "the most efficient chip built to date" for a personal computer. The new model is optimized for Microsoft Windows' latest software and will be integrated into units from major personal technology brands, which have seen how the success of their devices increasingly depends on their ability to adapt to artificial intelligence. As the executive has announced, the RTX Spark Superchip will be found in Dell, Acer, HP, Lenovo, and MSI laptops and towers, among others. Nvidia has relied on Taiwanese technology for its new venture: the design has been carried out by MediaTek, while the Taipei giant TSMC will be responsible for manufacturing.

An intelligent "companion"

According to Nvidia, the new microprocessor will have enough capacity to keep an artificial intelligence agent active at all times while the computer is in use. In fact, for Huang, a fully synchronized AI agent could replace peripherals —the keyboard and mouse— as the first point of contact between the user and the device. "We will reimagine the computer for the first time in 40 years. This is how long it has taken us to reinvent how a PC works," the CEO stated during his presentation at Computex.

According to Huang, artificial intelligence agents will be an omnipresent technological player in consumers' lives in just a decade. In the coming years, users will have "AI supercomputers at home, with agents and assistants" connected to home automation technology and the rest of their devices. It is worth noting that, initially, the new RTX Spark will only be included in computers from the premium segment from the brands that use it. They will be aimed at technology professionals, as well as end buyers who use more demanding software, such as video game enthusiasts. However, the multinational expects to eventually include the new superchip in products aimed at any consumer profile.
