Iberdrola celebrates its 125th anniversary in Bilbao

Improves forecasts for 2026, with the United States and the United Kingdom as "main growth drivers"

BarcelonaThe electricity company Iberdrola commemorated this Friday afternoon in Bilbao the 125 years of its birth. The multinational improved at the end of April its business forecasts for this year to improve at the end of April its business forecasts for this year, after obtaining a net profit of 1,711 million euros in the first quarter. Although it is 14.6% less than in the same period of the previous year, it points to new business opportunities in electricity grids and artificial intelligence, while it does not contemplate "significant" financial impacts due to the conflict in the Middle East. The company chaired by Ignacio Sánchez Galán closed 2025 with a record profit of 6,285 million euros, 12% more than the previous year.

In this context, the electricity company has organized this Friday an afternoon of concerts. It has brought to the stage the Catalans Rigoberta Bandini and Antonio Orozco, the Colombian Juanes and the Basque Süne. According to a company statement, the event gathered nearly 40,000 people in the open air. The event will conclude with a show of 1,500 drones around ten in the evening.

The company has organized concerts in Madrid and Valencia, for June 27 and November 28, respectively. In parallel, it has also planned exhibitions and illuminations in emblematic buildings, among other gatherings.

137,000 M€ on the stock market

The multinational company considers the United States and the United Kingdom as "main growth drivers in the coming years", according to Sánchez Galán in the presentation of last year's results. The executive stressed that the company's strategy involves "geographic diversification, access to financing and technology, and a successful execution trajectory".

Regarding dividends, Iberdrola announced that it would advance them at the same pace as record profits and increase them by a further 12%, distributing a total of 4,500 million euros among shareholders. In this way, it set the remuneration per share at 0.68 euros, based on the 2025 results.

Iberdrola has a stock market value of over 137,000 million euros, higher than the 122,466 million at which it closed last year, when it was one of the five listed companies that surpassed 100,000 million euros.
