BarcelonaCatalonia received 8.6% of all the investment that the Spanish government made in 2025 and that can be distributed (or, in other words, regionalized) among autonomous communities, according to reports consulted by ARA that the Ministry of Finance sent this Friday to political parties and Congress. In the same exercise, Catalonia, which concentrates 17% of the State's population, contributed 19% of Spanish GDP. In contrast, Madrid concentrated more than 20% of the resources spent by the State.
State investments in Catalonia slightly exceeded 1,321 million euros and, in Madrid, were around 3,217 million. If we analyze the resources spent by the Spanish government per person, while each Catalan received 162.62 euros, each Madrilenian received 452.31. In absolute terms, the State allocated almost 15,365 million to the communities, which, distributed among the entire population, translates into 312.75 euros per inhabitant.
