Catalan exports fell by 0.5% in July

Imports rose by 7.6% to €10.376 billion.

BarcelonaExports from Catalonia totaled €9.201 billion in July, a 0.5% drop compared to the same month last year, according to data published Tuesday by the Ministry of Economy. Imports, meanwhile, grew 7.6%, reaching €10.376 billion. As a result of this development, the Catalan trade deficit stood at €1.175 billion in the seventh month of the year.

In the cumulative total through July, exports grew 1.1% compared to the same period in 2024, to €60.513 billion, and imports grew 4.8%, to €68.553 billion, with a deficit of €8.237 billion. During this period, Catalan exports accounted for 26% of Spain's total exports, ahead of Madrid (13.8%), Andalusia (10.6%), and the Valencian Community (9.7%).

The largest decline in July was recorded in chemical products, with foreign sales falling 14.6% to €2.622 billion, while exports of food, beverages, and tobacco grew 12.6% to €1.572 billion and goods grew 1.521 billion. In the first seven months of the year, chemical product exports have seen a slight increase of 0.4%, reaching €18.26 billion.
