Capgemini suggests that the ERE will affect around 130 employees in Barcelona

BARCELONAThe redundancy plan (ERE) proposed by the technology consultancy Capgemini in Spain could affect up to 130 employees in Barcelona, CCOO sources inform el ARA. As reported by ACN, the measure will affect around 8% of the workforce at the company's Barcelona office, which employs 1,603 people.

Across the whole of Spain, Capgemini will lay off a "maximum" of 748 people, 7% of the total workforce, made up of 11,000 professionals. When announcing the measure, the French company attributed the decision to "the acceleration of technological change, the evolution of client needs, and the need to adapt organizational capabilities".

The majority union accuses the company of "lack of foresight" because they claim to have been warning for "more than two years" about the number of workers without assigned projects, which will be the main criterion for determining who is affected by the measure.

According to CCOO sources, Barcelona is the second center where the French company plans the most layoffs, only behind Madrid, where it estimates that around 5,492 people will be laid off (9.1% of the people working there). It plans for Valencia to be affected by 879 employees (2.7%), 802 in Asturias (7.9%), 709 in Seville (3%), 254 in Malaga (3.1%), and 201 in Cadiz (1.5%). The company and the unions yesterday constituted the negotiation table and kicked off a 30-day period to bring positions closer. The next meeting will be next Thursday, April 30, union sources detail.
