Bon Preu culminates the return of the Esclat brand to Barcelona after a decade absent

The company inaugurates an establishment of 2,100 square meters in the Catalan capital

BarcelonaThe Bon Preu Group culminates Esclat's return, the group's hypermarket chain, to the city of Barcelona. After a decade of absence in the Catalan capital, the brand owned by Joan Font has inaugurated this Tuesday a 2,100 square meter facility within the Culmia Themis Riera complex, on Riera Blanca street in the Sants district.

was initially announced for the month of DecemberOn its first day of operation, the Bon Preu executive believes that the wider and larger store format will make the purchasing experience more pleasant, both for the 55 employees of the space and for the users. "We have no doubt that customers in Barcelona will welcome us just as they have in all our other openings," he stated. The launch of the new establishment wasinitially announced for December of last year, but the Osona-based company has finally delayed its inauguration by a few months.

More openings in Barcelona

Beyond the good reception expected for the new space, Moncunill –accompanied at all times by the general director Joan Font, also present at the inauguration ceremony– is confident that the return of the Esclat brand's activity to Barcelona will open the door to new operations. "We hope it will be the first, but it will certainly not be the last," assured Moncunill, who also detailed the expansion plan that the company has foreseen for the coming months.

In Barcelona itself, the opening of a new Bonpreu supermarket in the Sants neighborhood is expected before the end of the year. In parallel, the company plans new openings – both for the Bon Preu and Esclat brands – in the Vallès region during this second semester, in cities such as Sabadell or Mollet del Vallès.
