BBVA wins a profit of 6,051 million euros in the first half of the year, 11.1% more

BBVA closed the first half of 2026 with "excellent" figures. This was stated by the CEO of the Basque bank, Onur Genç, to the agency Europa Press, who emphasized that, for the first time, attributed profit exceeded 6,000 million euros. "Our loan portfolio has grown by more than 60% since the end of 2020; an increase far greater than that of our competitors, positioning us as the fastest-growing bank in Spain," Genç insisted.

Specifically, the net attributed profit for this period is 6,051 million euros, an 11.1% increase compared to the same period last year. According to the entity's statement announcing the results, this is due to the "good performance of recurring income".

By geographical areas, Mexico was the country that contributed most to the results, with a profit of approximately 2,979 million euros, equivalent to 44.1% of the total. In the case of Spain, which accounted for 32.2% of the group's total earnings, its profit increased by 2.3% compared to the previous year.

For the bank as a whole, the balance sheet on Thursday indicated that total assets were valued at 965,426 million euros, a 12.3% increase compared to the close of the previous year's semester. Of this figure, loans and advances to the entity's clients amounted to 509,424 million euros, also with a higher increase than last year.
