Vilanova de Sijena is calling for measures to seize the MNAC and 24-hour surveillance of the murals.

BarcelonaThe arguments of the board of trustees of the National Art Museum of Catalonia (MNAC), which on Monday alleged the technical impossibility to carry out the transfer of the murals of Sijena and opened the door to Aragonese technicians, the lawyer from Vilanova de Sijena has warned. Jorge Español considers it a "full-blown challenge" and has filed a petition with the Huesca court of first instance requesting preventive measures to ensure the execution of the ruling.

According to the ACN, the petition requests the seizure of the MNAC's assets until the return is made. Español estimates the value of the paintings at one billion euros and is proposing a seizure of at least 150 million. The petition also requests that the court establish a system of surveillance of the paintings by public forces "24 hours a day" and that the museum rooms where the murals are displayed be closed.

Català makes a list of demands. He demands the minutes and reports of the board meeting. He also requests that the museum draw up a list of assets or financial resources that may be seized. He is requesting the delivery of all necessary documentation for the "dismantling" and isolation of the rooms. He is even asking the judge to warn those responsible for the equipment that they will be guilty of disobedience if they do not comply with the preventive measures.

The lawyer from Vilanova de Sijena says that once the twenty-day period for complying with the sentence has expired, he plans to file a petition in Huesca Court No. 2 to request its forced execution.

The first calendars for moving the murals

On the other hand, the Generalitat (Catalan Government) has removed references to the fragility of the Sijena murals from the minutes of the working meeting of the group of Catalan and Aragonese experts at the MNAC, according to ACN sources within the Aragonese government. The same sources also specify that they have not signed any documents and are appealing for discretion. However, a timeline for the relocation is already being discussed in the meetings, and the debate is set at around nine months, a date that Aragon considers too distant. "We do not agree with the proposed deadlines because they could be shorter. Compliance with the ruling should not be delayed," stated Aragonese Vice President Mar Vaquero in a statement this Friday. She believes that the deadlines for bidding and awarding the transfer of the paintings can be expedited. The Generalitat has not commented, and June 26 is the deadline for filing an appeal for enforcement of the ruling before Court No. 2 of Huesca.
