The bestseller list for Sant Jordi 2026
Regina Rodríguez Sirvent and Òscar Andreu lead the Catalan book rankings
BarcelonaThe Cambra del Llibre released this Thursday a provisional but quite accurate list of the best-selling books for Sant Jordi. In Catalan, the top positions are held by Regina Rodríguez Sirvent (fiction), Òscar Andreu (non-fiction), and Míriam Tirado (children and young adult). In Spanish, the best-sellers have been Eduardo Mendoza (fiction), Ana Garriga and Carmen Urbita (non-fiction), and Emma Gil (children and young adult). According to data from the Cambra del Llibre, total sales for Sant Jordi 2026 are close to 27 million euros, almost a million more than last year.
In statements to the ACN, Regina Rodríguez Sirvent stated that she did not expect to be at the top of the list. However, she finds it "very ironic and very beautiful" because her career as a writer also began on a Sant Jordi when she was "very lost" and couldn't find her voice. "If they had told me this would happen, I wouldn't have imagined it in a million years. It's quite heavy on a personal level," she added. She also highlighted the experience of meeting readers, in an event where "in 20 seconds" she concentrates "all the emotion, hers and mine." "We've cried with many people, we've hugged, there are fascinating moments of having been able to help people move forward, that's everything," she said.
The list of best-selling books was compiled based on "the first estimates from the member bookstores of the Gremi de Llibreters de Catalunya until 6 p.m. and with information from the days preceding Sant Jordi collected by LibriRed, an automated system that obtains data from sales points throughout Catalonia, including independent bookstores and bookstore chains." "These titles represent only about 5% of the total titles sold," recalls the Cambra del Llibre, which in the coming days will provide the definitive list with "mechanized sales data from establishments, which will also include sales data from street stalls."
