The Aragon government technicians are already inside the MNAC
Work begins on the photogrammetric survey of the secular paintings of Sijena.

BarcelonaThe technicians of the Aragon government have entered the MNAC this Monday shortly before eleven in the morning, as reported by the ACN, and in agreement with the ruling of the Huesca courtAccording to sources from the Aragonese government, technicians have begun work on the photogrammetric survey, first of all on the profane paintings, located in room 17. The technicians did not enter the offices, where around fifty people were gathered, including Junts deputies such as Laura Borràs, the president of Junts, the president of the Republic, and the Association of Municipalities for Independence (AMI). Sources from the MNAC (National Council of Municipalities for Independence) told ACN that there are four technicians in total working normally. They will work until Wednesday.
The Aragonese government said in a statement that technicians have been working since Monday to carry out a photogrammetric survey of the secular and mural paintings at the Sijena Monastery. This work, they noted, is "necessary to determine the detailed measurements, texture, and true color," and that this will be carried out.
The technical team is led by conservator-restorer Natalia Martínez de Pisón, an external advisor to the Aragonese government, and is made up of members of the Photogrammetry Laboratory at the University of Valladolid's School of Architecture. They entered the museum at ten to eleven and were greeted by the center's head of security. At the request of the MNAC, they first entered Room 17, where the secular paintings from the Queen's Room are located, and then Room 16, where the mural paintings from the Sijena Chapter House are located.
An exact record of the sizes and texture of the murals
Technicians have begun scanning the paintings to make a geometric record of their exact measurements, surface, and texture. In Room 17, work will continue in Room 16, where the process will be repeated with the mural paintings in the monastery's chapter house. Rooms 18 will continue on Tuesday and Wednesday at the museum, with the latter two days already focused on Room 16 with the mural paintings.
A context of institutional tension.
The Director General of Culture of the Government of Aragon, Pedro Olloqui, explained that in the initial moments there was "a certain tension due to the heavy surveillance the technicians were under and also due to a restriction on movement within the museum itself." However, he added that the situation has eased and that the technicians have since worked in "conditions of respect and normality."
He also emphasized that the technicians' work is being carried out in a context of "strong institutional tensions like those of the previous days" and this Monday with "mobilizations called by pro-independence organizations" at the doors of the MNAC. Olloqui added that, as the President of Aragon stated, they will work "without being fooled" or "distracted by the execution of the schedule that will culminate in the transfer and installation of the paintings at the Sijena Monastery."
