Michael Bublé, the star of the Costa Brava's summer musical journey at a premium.

The Canadian singer closed the Cap Roig Festival with a concert of his own songs and covers, which was highly applauded by the audience.

Calella de PalafrugellFrom 300 to 500 euros. This was, no less, the average price of tickets for the Michael Bublé concert that brought the Cabo Rojo Festival to a close in Calella de Palafrugell. The performance by the famous Canadian singer, the only one in Spain and one of the few in Europe this year, was undoubtedly one of the great musical events of the summer in our country. And one of the most expensive, of course. Before a completely devoted audience, made up mainly of vacationers from the Costa Brava and foreigners who had traveled specifically for the occasion, the artist performed with great aplomb fifteen songs, both his own and covers, imbued with his unmistakable style of pop-jazz and classic swing.

The show is a musical show of great prestige, and Bublé certainly knows how to do it. The singer, authentic crooner A contemporary artist, emulating the lyricism of masters like Frank Sinatra, he displays a sweet and polished voice, with baritone tones, full-bodied but not heavy, capable of weaving phrases, melodies, and flourishes with elegance. And on stage, he shows great poise and dominates the live show with ease and charisma—now we would say flow–, emulating another old-fashioned reference like Dean Martin: hip movements, star position, ideal son-in-law face, sex symbol and playful interactions with the audience. All of this is seasoned with a musical base that hooks you in and makes you dance: commercial jazz standards are played, sung by a big band which sounds at full blast and gives impetus to the versions, and makes the audience stand up clapping to the setbacks.

I leave the artist's flirtatiousness, but sometimes it is a little excessive and cloying, since, in Cap Roig, Bublé was not one to make spicy jokes and exchange complicities with some spectators: it was a certain Juan Carlos, who gave away a fan while doing it and he did not stop. It is also true that the songs lend themselves to all this syrupy staging, since absolutely all of them are about love, always happy and sugary.

Michael Bublé, with millions of reproductions and albums sold around the world, has made a fortune combining his facet of cover of all kinds of classical themes with that of a composer, who has written his own songs with a good eye. And the live performance in Palafrugell followed that same formula. Of his songs, especially celebrated were the commitment Haven't met you yet or the mix of the summer It's a beautiful dayAnd, of the versions, the infallible one Feeling Good with which the concert started in the style of a James Bond film, the Sway with Cuban airs, or an Elvis Presley medley with which he closed the night.
