A 'Derry Girls' actress, evicted from a flight from Barcelona to Edinburgh for an incident with the crew
Jamie Lee O'Donnell lives in the Catalan capital for more than a year
BarcelonaThe Irish actress Jamie Lee O'Donnell, known for the series Derry Girls and Leonard and Hungry Paul, was escorted by police upon landing in Edinburgh on a flight from Barcelona, where she currently lives. As reported by Crónica Global, this Sunday, during the Ryanair flight to the Scottish capital, O'Donnell allegedly displayed a conflictive attitude that led to an "incident" with the plane's crew.
According to testimonies collected by the digital media outlet, the actress, who showed no obvious signs of intoxication, "was moving around a lot and going to the restroom constantly," while she was "actively searching for something in the luggage compartments." When a crew member called her attention, an argument broke out that quickly escalated to the point where the actress threatened to report the staff member to the police. Furthermore, to allegedly document the events and file a complaint, O'Donnell began recording the cabin crew, despite being asked to stop.
Finally, when the plane landed in Edinburgh, the flight commander asked passengers to remain seated while awaiting the arrival of four officers who escorted O'Donnell and her partner off the plane. Despite the conflict, Scottish police have confirmed that no complaint has been filed and no crime was detected. The actress was traveling to Edinburgh to participate in the film festival held there, where she presented the film Skintown.
Jamie Lee O'Donnell has been living in Barcelona for over a year, as she recently explained on the podcast Dish. In the conversation she had with the two hosts of the show, presenter Nick Grimshaw and chef Angela Hartnett, she decided to move to the Catalan capital impulsively after a rather intense therapy process that led her to cut contact with her family. "Honestly, I don't know why I chose Barcelona. I just thought: 'Where should I go? Let's trust the universe and all that stuff.' I did therapy, which was pretty intense and hard, to be honest. And when I finished, I told myself: 'Okay, it's time for a new beginning.' So I sold my house and said, 'Let's go, Barcelona,'" she explained. She assures that before moving she did research because she didn't know anyone in the city. "A few months before, I stayed there for a few days to see how I felt. And, at the end of the stay, it was like: 'Yes, this will work,'" she added.
