Ebro S900, a plug-in hybrid family SUV assembled in Barcelona
Ebro presents a PHEV (plug-in hybrid) SUV with 425 hp, 125 kilometers of electric range, all-wheel drive and seven seats
Ebro continues to grow with a new model in its range. Following the already well-known S700 and S800 and as expected S400 hybrid urban SUV (which should become the brand's best seller), the Barcelona subsidiary of the Chery group has now presented the brand new S900, a very large, powerful and plug-in SUV that becomes the brand's new flagship.
This SUV uses the Chery Group's new T2X platform, the same one used by the Tiggo 9 (from which it is derived). This is the most technologically advanced platform, reserved for the most ambitious models, as is the case with this S900. It's a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV with all-wheel drive, measuring 4.82 meters long, 1.74 meters high, and 1.92 meters wide—truly impressive dimensions for a model designed to compete with European premium SUVs.
Technological and plug-in hybrid
While the current Ebro S800 already boasts a spacious seven-seat interior, the S900 increases the available space and, above all, the model's technological features. The new S900 utilizes a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a large 15.6-inch central touchscreen compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, along with an 8.8-inch head-up display. If all this weren't enough, the new S900 also features a high-quality Sony sound system, a high-definition top-view camera, a wireless phone charging system, and leather upholstery paired with heated front seats.
But the real highlight of this family SUV is its standard plug-in hybrid system, which combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with three electric motors (two on the front axle and one on the rear) to deliver a total combined output of 425 hp and an electric range of 44 km. This S900 can be charged from 30% to 80% capacity in just 25 minutes using a DC fast charger with up to 71 kW of power, and thanks to the V2L system, it can use the stored electrical energy to power external electrical devices. According to the manufacturer, the combined total range of both systems exceeds 1,000 km, and the combustion engine has a theoretical fuel consumption of 6.8 l/100 km. The new S900 features a standard all-wheel-drive system with several driving modes: Snow, Sand, and Off-Road, specifically designed for different weather and road conditions. Furthermore, this S900 has 26 airbags and an aluminum multi-link rear axle, making it, on paper, the safest Ebro in the brand's lineup. Ebro has announced that the new S900 will arrive in our market before the end of the year. Like the rest of the range, it will be assembled at Ebro's facilities in the Zona Franca industrial park using parts from China. This car will have the same 7-year or 150,000-kilometer warranty as the rest of the brand's models and will have a retail price—still to be confirmed—of around €50,000.
